The Cabildo Insular de la Gomera is the authority responsible on the island of La Gomera for the management of forestry control, forestry services, pasture and cattle paths, environmental protection and the management and conservation of protected natural spaces.

Through the ‘Plánta-te’ Programme set up by the environmental unit at the Cabildo de la Gomera with the aim of recuperating its thermophilic woodland, the Cabildo has been a pioneer in launching an ongoing project throughout the year, replanting endemic vegetation in order to recover the island’s thermophilic forests, as well as sourcing seeds, growing new plants in nurseries and then planting them out.

The Cabildo undertakes many different gallery forest recuperation projects at a range of ravines on the island, by planting endemic species along ravine banks and working on silvicolous treatments.
