Cabildo de Gran Canaria - Environment Department
www.cabildo.grancanaria.com/medio-ambiente

The Environment and Emergencies Department is responsible for the management of environmental education and awareness, as well as reforestation policies on the island of Gran Canaria.

To this end, it currently runs three forestry nurseries that produce an average of 400,000 plants every year (from summit pine trees to laurel trees, thermophilic and psammophilous tree species and cardonal-tabaiba species for arid areas).

These nurseries grow trees that are used for different reforestation programmes undertaken throughout the year, linked to the Cabildo’s own forestry policies and to other reforestation projects supported by the EU (Life Projects), namely Life Green Link, Life Guguy, Life Rabiche and Life Pinzón.
